Acrylic (Plexiglas)

Characteristics

Acrylic, commonly known as Plexiglas, is the most frequently used product in the market. Versatile, it is the preferred choice in many applications. Lightweight and highly durable, it is, however, susceptible to scratches, like most plastics.

Acrylic is a material that lends itself well to several transformation techniques. It can be glued, bent, and easily assembled to design custom parts. It also responds very well to thermoforming, a technique that shapes a plastic material by heating it. Valued for its excellent optical qualities, acrylic performs well against weather conditions and UV rays.
